Airtel Money Prices London IPO as UK Retail Investors Can Participate From £250

Airtel Money has priced its planned London initial public offering at £1.96 per share, valuing the African mobile money business at approximately £5.3 billion, or $7 billion, ahead of its expected admission to the London Stock Exchange.

The offer also gives UK retail investors an opportunity to participate, with a minimum application of £250 through participating investment platforms, retail brokers and wealth managers in RetailBook’s partner network.

Retail applications are expected to close at 5pm London time on 8 October 2026, subject to the participating platform or broker. Conditional trading is expected to begin by 9 October, with admission and unconditional trading currently scheduled for 8am on 14 October.

How much is Airtel Money worth?

The £1.96 offer price gives Airtel Money an estimated market capitalisation of £5.3 billion at admission.

That is equivalent to approximately $7 billion and puts a firm number on the valuation after Airtel Money confirmed its intention to float in London on 23 September.

The offer involves 270 million existing shares being sold by certain current shareholders. A further 27 million existing shares could be sold through an over-allotment option.

This distinction is important for prospective investors. The IPO is principally a secondary share sale, meaning the proceeds from the shares being offered will go to selling shareholders rather than being new capital raised by Airtel Money for the business.

Airtel Africa is not expected to sell shares in the main offer, although it could participate through the over-allotment option. It plans to remain a long-term strategic shareholder.

Can UK retail investors buy Airtel Money shares?

Yes. The retail offer is available to investors who are resident and physically present in the United Kingdom, according to the company’s offer announcement.

The minimum application is £250. Access will be through participating investment platforms, retail brokers and wealth managers connected to RetailBook, so availability will depend on whether an investor’s provider is participating in the offer.

The company expects the retail offer to close at 5pm on 8 October. Investors should check the prospectus and the deadline used by their own platform, which may impose an earlier cut-off.

The International Finance Corporation has separately committed to buy up to £67.2 million, approximately $90 million, of shares from existing shareholders as a cornerstone investor.

What happens after the IPO?

Airtel Money expects approximately 16.5% of its issued ordinary shares to be in public hands after the IPO if the over-allotment option is not exercised. That could rise to around 17.5% if the maximum number of additional shares is sold.

The company says the resulting free float is expected to make it eligible for inclusion in the FTSE UK indices.

Airtel Money operates a mobile money platform across African markets, making its London listing particularly notable for UK-based investors and members of the African diaspora who follow the growth of digital payments on the continent.

However, access to the retail offer should not be confused with an investment recommendation. Anyone considering participating should read the FCA-approved prospectus, including its financial information and risk factors, before making a decision.
